After a sudden emergency revealed glioblastoma during pregnancy, Ricki Lee faced decisions no parent expects. Brain Tumor Network helped her understand her options, seek second opinions, and navigate recurrence with steady guidance and hope.
When Ricki Lee was six months pregnant with her fifth child, life was busy but full of promise. Her family had just relocated to Texas, and she was adjusting to a new home and community when she began experiencing severe migraines and confusion. The symptoms escalated until one night she was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered a large tumor in her right frontal lobe. After an emergency C-section and a medically induced coma, Ricki Lee woke to learn that her newborn son was in the NICU and she had been diagnosed with glioblastoma.
Facing an uncertain future, Ricki Lee reached out to Brain Tumor Network. Her navigator helped her review her medical information, weigh her options, and decide where to seek a second opinion. With BTN’s support, she pursued additional evaluations at UT Southwestern and later at MD Anderson, where she was accepted into a clinical trial following a recurrence.
Throughout her journey, Ricki Lee has found comfort and confidence knowing she can reach out to BTN anytime for information or reassurance.
The Brain Tumor Network has been a source of hope for our family. Their expertise and support helped me make informed decisions, and I encourage others facing a brain tumor diagnosis to reach out too.
