After sudden vision loss led to a GBM diagnosis, Mark turned to BTN for help sorting through treatment decisions, insurance hurdles, and records across two states. With steady support, he continues to stay active and engaged in life.
When Mark, a 67-year-old copywriter and musician, began experiencing vision problems early in the year, he didn’t imagine how quickly things would change. Over several months, his eyesight worsened, and by late spring, he had lost his left field of vision. Realizing it was no longer safe to drive, he contacted his doctor, who ordered an emergency MRI. Within days, Mark was at Cedars-Sinai, preparing for surgery to remove a glioblastoma.
Recovery came quickly, but the weeks that followed brought new challenges. Mark faced complex insurance issues and needed help arranging treatment. With support from his family and Brain Tumor Network, he found the guidance and coordination he needed to move forward. BTN helped him understand his diagnosis, explore treatment options across multiple hospitals, and organize medical records as he transitioned between California and Pennsylvania for care.
Today, Mark continues to live life on his terms. He telecommutes full-time, walks two miles a day, rides his bike, and plays music with his bands. His goal is simple but powerful—to stay active, informed, and hopeful for as long as possible. With his determination and BTN’s ongoing support, he continues to approach each day with purpose and gratitude.
