Shelley

When I felt completely stuck and overwhelmed with all that goes into trying to make treatment decisions for a child with a brain tumor, someone told me about the Brain Tumor Network, and I met our nurse navigator.

She was so caring, approachable, and helpful as she led me through the process of pursuing a second opinion. She researched hospitals and care teams that would be particularly relevant to my child’s diagnosis, and took care of requesting and sending records to take some things off of my plate and make that first appointment as easy as possible. She helped guide our way when I felt so uncertain about which direction to turn.

Beyond that, she has reached out regularly just to check in on us and see how my son has been doing even months after that first phone call with her. These navigation services from Brain Tumor Network have given us hope and encouragement because we have an advocate and a helper in this complicated and sometimes lonely journey.
